Run a speed test

Go to speedtest.net

Testing Stream

  1. Go to Stream & Preview Settings submenu for your event
  2. Verify Transcoder Settings
  3. Click Activate Stream, wait 5 minutes
  4. When the stream is activated, start streaming from live stream encoder (e.g. OBS, vMix, Larix)
  5. Verify stream can be seen in preview player after 15-30 seconds
  6. When testing is finished, stop streaming from live stream encoder
  7. Wait for stream to stop showing on preview player
  8. Click Disable Stream

Preparing for Event

  1. Activate Stream 15-30 minutes before Event Start time
  2. When input is ready, start streaming from live stream encoder
  3. Verify stream can be seen in preview player after 15-30 seconds
  4. Leave stream running for duration of planned event

Managing Live Event

  1. Keep an eye on the back end preview player and front end player to ensure the stream is coming through.
  2. Check occasionally on a separate device than what the live stream encoder is running on
    1. If another device isn’t available, quickly check on the same machine that is running the live stream encoder
    2. Don't keep the video player running on the Vidflex site on the same machine as your live stream encoder, as it could take up resources to run the stream

Ending Event

When you’re sure that the event is over click the red End Event button. Do not pause the input when the real event is over unless you plan on streaming to the same event later in the day (rare occurrences).

Once the event has been ended you cannot stream to this event again

Trimming DVR

If there’s content at the beginning or end of the DVR archive that you don’t want showing on the front end player and generated download mp4, it can be trimmed. If no trimming is required, skip to creating a download, if you need to make one.

  1. Go to DVR submenu
  2. Offset the start or end field by entering the time in seconds
    1. E.g. to trim off 2 minutes from the start enter the value ‘120’ without the quotes
    2. You can offset both start and end or just one
  3. Click Save

Creating Download

The create button will unlock only after the event has ended. If the input is still running and the event start time has already passed click the End Event button

  1. When you’re sure the event has been properly ended go to the Download submenu
  2. Click Create
  3. Wait times are generally half the length of the stream

The generated mp4 will only use content between the start and end time

  4. When mp4 is ready, click Download
