Creating and Assigning Categories

See the topics below to learn how to create categories. After categories have been created, you can assign videos to categories or remove videos from categories.

Creating a Category

Follow the instructions in this topic to create a new category.

  1. In the Categories screen, click Create Category.
  2. Enter a name for the category and click Create.

The category is created and you automatically return to the Categories screen.

Assigning Videos to a Category

Once you’ve created some categories and added some videos to your platform, you can assign the categories to your videos.

There are two ways to assign videos to a category:

  • If you want to assign one or more categories to a single video, see the Assigning Categories to a Video topic.
  • If you have more than one video that you want to assign to a category, follow the steps below.

  1. In the Categories screen, find the category that you want and click Edit.
  2. In the Category submenu, click Videos.

  3. In the text field, start typing the name of an item (e.g., the name of a live event or video-on-demand) in the Library.
After typing the first three letters, suggested items will appear just below the text field. Click on the desired item(s) and they will populate in the text field.
Repeat this step if you want to add multiple items at a time.
  4. Click Add.

The selected video(s) will be assigned to the category.

Unassigning Videos from a Category

There are two ways to remove library content from a category:

  • If you want to unassign more than one category from a single video, see the Unassigning Categories from a Video topic.
  • If you want to unassign more than one video from a category, follow the steps below.

  1. In the Categories screen, find the category that you want and click Edit.
  2. In the Category submenu, click Videos.
  3. Find the library item that you want to unassign and click Remove.

    A confirmation message appears.
  4. Click OK.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 if you want to unassign additional videos.
