Getting Started

Introduction to Vidflex

Vidflex is a ready-to-use video platform that allows organizations of any size or type to manage and share online video content with a global audience, similar to popular streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube.

Using Vidflex’s built-in tools and page templates, it’s super easy to create your own professional video broadcast site that looks great and conveys your brand identity. Power your business by publishing videos for your viewers to watch on your site and share on Facebook and Twitter. You can use videos to improve corporate communications and training, and so much more.

The best part is that you don’t need any technical skills to create your website and stream video content. Vidflex is user-friendly, yet contains all of the powerful features designed to help you engage with your viewers.

Quick Start Guide

So, you’ve signed up for a Vidflex video platform! Now what?

Don’t worry. We’ll show you all the essentials in the sections below to help you get started. Click the steps under each of the sections to find instructions — they will open in a new tab in your browser. You can return to this Quick Start Guide at any time by finding the Worldplay Help Center | Introduction to Vidflex tab in your browser.

If you’re not already signed in to your Vidflex account, then you want to do that first. When you signed up, Vidflex sent you an email containing a link to your site. For information about how to log in to your site and finding your admin panel, see the Accessing Your Platform.

When you’re ready, complete these six simple tasks in the admin panel. Click on each of the tasks to find further instructions (provided below).

  1. The Basics — Learn about your site and how to use it.
  2. Video Management — We’ll show you how to add and manage videos on your site.
  3. Video Organization — You may have a lot of videos to add to your site. We’ll show you how to keep them organized and make them more searchable for your audience.
  4. Content Display — Learn how to display your videos on your site.
  5. Site Look-and-Feel — Explore how you can add some personal touches to your site.
  6. Account Management — View your account information and manage your subscription.

The Basics

There are two sides to your video platform: 1 the site that your audience will see and 2 the admin panel that only you have access to.

If you’re already signed in to your Vidflex account, you can easily navigate back and forth between your site view and the admin panel.

  • To go from the admin panel to your site, click Go To My Site.
  • To go from your site to the admin panel, click the profile icon  and choose Admin.

Your Site

This is what your audience will see when they visit your video platform. Your site will contain a home page and other pages for displaying content (e.g., videos, text, and images). Here’s an example of what your home page may look like:

Home Page Example

Admin Panel

The admin panel is the management interface of your video platform. This is where you add or make changes to content that’s displayed on your site. You must be logged in to the admin panel if you want to add content and make changes to your site. For more information, see Using the Admin Panel.

Video Management

All videos are added and managed in the Library. If you’ve signed up for the Starter Plan, you may have noticed that there’s a video slider already on your site. Let’s upload a video and make it appear on that video slider.

  1. Click Library in the left menu.
  2. Click Upload Video.
  3. Enter a name for the video. (This name will appear on your site.)
  4. Check the Publish Immediately checkbox. (This allows your video to be automatically published after it has been uploaded and processed.)
  5. Click Upload Video.
  6. In the Upload Video window that automatically opens, you can either:
    • Drag-and-drop your video file into the window.
    • OR
    • Click Select Files. Browse to and select the desired video file, then click Open.
Don’t close the Upload Video window while the video file is uploading!

A progress bar appears in the Upload Video window to show the progress of the file upload and the approximate upload time. Your video is now being processed. After it has processed, your video will automatically appear on a video slider on your site. If you want to see this, click Go To My Site.

If you want more information or you’re ready for more advanced tasks, go to Working with Videos.

Now that you have a video set up in your Library, you can now learn to how to organize your video content.

Video Organization

This part is optional, but if you want to organize your videos based on the type of content that’s presented, you can create categories and assign videos to the categories. This allows you to create a video slider that only displays videos that have been assigned to a category. Your viewers can also see these categories on your site and be able to easily find videos that belong in a category that they’re interested in.

If this isn’t important to you at the moment, then jump to Content Display. You can always create your categories later.

  1. Click Categories in the left menu.
  2. Click Create Category.
  3. Enter the category name and click Create. (When naming a category, we recommend that you keep the name simple and relatable, so that your viewers can easily understand it.)
  4. Click Library in the left menu.
  5. Find the video that you want to assign your new category to and click Edit.
  6. Click the Categories tab.
  7. Select the checkbox of the category that you want to assign.
  8. Click Save.

If you want to, repeat the steps above to create additional categories. You can assign multiple videos to any category.

Content Display

Your content is displayed on the pages of your site. A page can be comprised of a number of widgets and you’ll display different types of content in each widget.

One widget that you’ll most likely want to use is the Video Slider widget.

If you signed up with the Starter Plan, there will already be one video slider set up on your home page. Each time you add a new video to your library, the video will automatically appear in this video slider.
