Introduction

The General tab encompasses all relevant details about your video in an easy to navigate dashboard. Your video title and description provides valuable context that cannot be gained from the video alone. Use Call to Actions (CTA's), popular keywords (to optimize search results), the option to pre-set the publish/unpublished state and much more.

General Elements


Click a tab in the table below to learn more about its element and the steps to configure it.

Create a title that will garner interest and capture your viewers’ attention. The title of your video appears on the front end of the platform under its thumbnail image in content display widgets such as Video Sliders, Programming Page, and on its video player page.

1. In the text field, edit the title of your video

2. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

The short description provides quick and efficient details that appears in the video slider and helps the viewers find content and know more about the video prior to watching it.

1. In the text field, enter the short description 

2. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

Add a detailed description of the video which appears on the video player page to the left of the video. This information will provide your viewers with more details and understand what they can expect from the video. 

You can also add CTA's (call to action) with text and links (internal or external).

This element allows you to add a global default customized message for the video player page for all VOD player pages, Live player pages, or Episode player pages depending on what you're working on. 

The information displayed can be in a Text or HTML Code format. 

Add links and buttons using a HTML code to re-direct your viewers to supporting pages.

1. Update the description in the pages section by clicking 'Edit Description' 

2. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

Change the customized message for the video player page by using the default message or overriding the settings within System Pages. 

  1. Toggle the State on or off 
  2. Use the 'Default settings' from System Pages on the video (no changes required) 
  3. Select ‘Override default settings’ to change the state for the individual container
  4. Select ‘Edit description' if you need to change the global description in System Pages
  5. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

When a video is published it's available on your platform for viewers to watch, likewise when the video is unpublished it will not appear on the front end of your platform.

1. In the State drop-down list, select Published or Unpublished 

2. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

Pre-roll ads will play before the start of your videos when a viewer goes to watch it and must be created prior.

  1. Use the drop down to select the State Enabled or Disabled 
  2. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

*Reference ID and Video ID are support settings, no action required

*Library Order is in reference to the sorting features of a dynamic video slider, no action is required

By default, your site's time zone will be automatically selected, select a different time zone if applicable.

The publish start and end settings do not control your live event start time. Learn more about setting date & time for an event

  1. Publish Start - Select the publish start date and time (the video will appear on the front end)
  2. Publish End - Select the publish end date and time (when the video no longer appears on the front end)
  3. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

When you publish a video, a video player page will automatically be created, in this section you can change the template if needed for Video containers only. 

Live Event containers have one default layout

  1. Use the page template ' Default setting' (no changes required)
  2. Select ‘Edit default’ if you need to change the page template in System Pages, otherwise skip this step
  3. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

Live Comments (powered by GraphComments) allows you to communicate with your viewers and sits just below the video player on a player page. 

This feature must be set up prior to use. Contact Support for more details.
  1. Use the default setting that appears on the video from your system pages edits (no changes required)
  2. Select ‘Override default setting’ to turn off the comment feature
  3. Toggle the State on or off 
  4. Select ‘Edit default' if you need to change the state in System Pages, otherwise skip this step
  5. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

Live Chat (powered by Arena) allows you to communicate with your viewers and sits to the right of the video player in a live event container. 

Live Chat is not supported on Video containers!

  1. Use the 'default setting' that appears on the video from your system pages edits (no changes required)
  2. Select ‘Override default setting’ to turn off the live chat feature
  3. Toggle the State on or off 
  4. Select ‘Edit default' if you need to change the state in System Pages, otherwise skip this step
  5. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

A related videos slider is displayed inside the video player with a video carousel when playback is paused or the video is over. 

Only videos that share the same attributes will be displayed inside the player carousel.

  1. Use the 'Default settings' from your system pages edits (no changes required) 
  2. Select ‘Override default setting’ to change the setting and select the type of carousel you’d like to use; Single Carousel or Double Carousel 
  3. Toggle the State on or off 
  4. Toggle Auto Play on or off
  5. Select ‘Edit default' if you need to change the state in System Pages, otherwise skip this step
  6. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

Related videos are what your viewers may want to watch next and is displayed below the video player in a video slider. 

Only videos that share the same attributes will be displayed. 

  1. Use the 'Default settings' that appear on the video (no changes required)
  2. Select ‘Override default setting’ to override the state 
  3. Toggle the State on or off 
  4. Select ‘Edit default' if you need to change the state in System Pages, otherwise skip this step
  5. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to complete

Add search terms to build your content around relevant and focused keywords, identifying ones that best match what your viewers may search for on the platform to find a video or event.

  1. Enter the keywords, separated by a space or comma
  2. Click Save to complete
